Russian Russian Museum of Emperor Alexander III (since 1917 - the State Russian Museum) became the first state museum of national fine arts in Russia. This book is based on the 1904 edition prepared by the famous art historian, expert on Russian art Baron Nikolai Nikolaevich Wrangel (1880-1915). In the course of his work, the author used materials from periodicals, monographs, catalogs, archival documents and information about paintings provided by the artists themselves. The book opens with two large articles dedicated to the Mikhailovsky Palace and its architect Karl Ivanovich Rossi.
