The book "Chemical instruction to write recipes". Trommsdorf I. Bartholomew, Moscow, 1811
Johann Bartholomew Trommsdorf is a German chemist and pharmacist, founder and head of the Chemical Pharmaceutical Institute and the first pharmaceutical journal in Germany. The scientist made an invaluable contribution to the development of pharmaceuticals. His journal Pharmaceuticals (1794-1834) held a leading position for several decades in a row, until Justus von Liebig began publishing his Annalen der Chemie in 1832.
At the end of the XVIII century, he founded a boarding school, which focused on the study of chemistry and physics. The educational institution existed until 1828. During this time, more than three hundred students have been educated within its walls. The school played an important role in training the founding generation of the German pharmaceutical industry.
Trommsdorf's numerous texts were extremely popular, most of them went through many editions in Germany and abroad. In 1811, the fourth edition underwent many corrections. The book "Chemical instructions for writing recipes" was released with the approval of the Censorship Committee established for the District of the Imperial Moscow University, translated by Ivan Popov, later a veteran of 1812 and a district doctor of Mologi, Yaroslavl province, while studying at the Medical and Surgical Academy.
