The author's oil painting "Petrovka, Moscow" is an immersion in the atmosphere of the capital's elegance of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. One of Moscow's oldest streets comes alive in front of the viewer — bright, crowded, pulsating with life. The architecture of the houses exudes a stable nobility: a hotel with carved pediments, a fashion house with showcases full of light and silk, a jewelry store where the windows shine like gems. The street is lively — there are horse-drawn carriages, ladies in magnificent dresses with feathers in their hats, and the city audience who came out on the promenade. Pasty brushstrokes, saturated with an ochre-golden scale, convey the atmosphere of sunset light reflected in the pavement. Every inch of the canvas breathes — light, movement, cultural memory. Impressionism gains density here — it does not crumble in the air, but gathers into a single fabric of time, woven into the Moscow topography.
Alexander Viktorovich Fomin, a gallery owner and artist, deeply appreciates impressionism and demonstrates his love for this style in stunning paintings. His works reflect the essence of light and color in nature, as well as the emotions and beauty of everyday moments.
The artist was born in Moscow. Alexander Fomin took his first lessons from his older brother. The novice painter was 22 years old when he first picked up a brush. Revolving in a circle of artists and selling paintings by his older brother, Alexander takes up the brush, watching as canvases are born. He studied literally "over his shoulder", closely following his brother's work.
Feeling that he can embody his impressions and ideas on canvas, Alexander makes the first strokes. Hard work and diligence paid off: in 1992, he was invited to an exhibition in West Germany. This was an important event and an incentive to choose the profession of an impressionist painter.
The artist's favorite themes are urban landscapes, retrospectives of old streets of Paris, Moscow and German cities. Today, Alexander's works are in private collections and museums, including in the city of Emmerich (West Germany), as well as in the estate of the Leontiev noblemen (descendants of Generalissimo Suvorov) and other top officials of countries and states.
The painting "Petrovka, Moscow" is intended for the discerning collector who is in love with a city with a history. It was created for an interior where the silence of cultural memory is appreciated, for a space filled with intelligence and taste. The canvas will become the center of the composition, an emotional accent that can tell more than words about time, grace and the power of visual poetry.
