One of the first paintings that got me invited to exhibitions in Europe. According to the inviting party, the technique of this work is similar to the manner of Camille Pissarro, the French impressionist. This is what prompted the artist to create his own style — Russian Impressionism, celebrating the beauty of urban landscapes. This painting marked the beginning of the ascent of the style of Russian impressionism by Alexander Viktorovich Fomin.
The author's oil painting "Light Impressionist" is a golden memory of the urban idyll of the early 20th century, framed in time and light. The sophisticated plot is revealed through the play of sunlight reflected on the pavement, shop windows, carriages and silks of women's dresses. The characters — elegant ladies in snow—white dresses, men in bowler hats and top hats, coachmen, silhouettes of passers-by - appear against the backdrop of architecture painted with theatrical expressiveness. The curved lines of the buildings, the gently sliding brushstrokes and the golden haze that covers the entire space of the canvas create a sense of drama and peace at the same time. The impressionistic style is intertwined with the decorative density of color, and each figure seems to glow from within — weightlessly, like a memory. Nostalgia hovers over all this, thin as evening mist over a cobblestone street.
Alexander Viktorovich Fomin, a gallery owner and artist, deeply appreciates impressionism and demonstrates his love for this style in stunning paintings. His works reflect the essence of light and color in nature, as well as the emotions and beauty of everyday moments.
The artist was born in Moscow. Alexander Fomin took his first lessons from his older brother. The novice painter was 22 years old when he first picked up a brush. Revolving in a circle of artists and selling paintings by his older brother, Alexander takes up the brush, watching as canvases are born. He studied literally "over his shoulder", closely following his brother's work.
Feeling that he can embody his impressions and ideas on canvas, Alexander makes the first strokes. Hard work and diligence paid off: in 1992, he was invited to an exhibition in West Germany. This was an important event and an incentive to choose the profession of an impressionist painter.
The artist's favorite themes are urban landscapes, retrospectives of old streets of Paris, Moscow and German cities. Today, Alexander's works are in private collections and museums, including in the city of Emmerich (West Germany), as well as in the estate of the Leontiev noblemen (descendants of Generalissimo Suvorov) and other top officials of countries and states.
This painting is intended for those who seek to fill their space with the warm light of past eras, for collectors who are able to read painting as writing, and for those who feel how great a style is when it contains the breath of an entire epoch. The "Light Impressionist" will harmoniously fit into the interior with history, will become an accent in an office, salon, museum or private library, reminding that beauty is life stopped on canvas.
