Tarantino basically shoots his films on 35mm film, considering digital technology to be "too sterile." For the filming of The Hateful Eight (2015), he even revived the almost forgotten Ultra Panavision 70 technology used in the 1960s to create a very wide image. This required special training for the entire film crew and the manufacture of unique lenses, but it allowed us to achieve the very "retro" look that the director appreciates so much.
