Ella Fitzgerald is an American singer who has been the most popular jazz performer in the United States of America for more than half a century. During her long career, Ella Fitzgerald has released 54 studio albums and sold over 40 million copies. She is the winner of 13 Grammy Awards and many honorary titles and awards.

Despite Ella Fitzgerald's enormous talent, she, like other black artists of the 1950s, was initially denied access to a number of hotels, restaurants and clubs. Marilyn Monroe provided invaluable assistance to the aspiring singer in this matter.

Marilyn loved listening to Ella Fitzgerald's recordings in search of inspiration. At that time, the most popular club was the "Mocabo", it was visited by many Hollywood stars, including Monroe. However, Ella Fitzgerald was not allowed to perform there. Then Monroe called the owner of the club and demanded that Fitzgerald be allowed to play. Ella later recalled: "After that, I never had to sing in a small jazz club again." Performances in "Mokabo" helped to start the career of an aspiring jazz singer.
