Personal telegram from polar explorer Ernst Krenkel

Ernst Krenkel is one of the most significant figures in the history of Arctic exploration. He participated in many Soviet Arctic expeditions, including the first drifting station, North Pole-1.

Krenkel was not only an experienced polar explorer and expedition leader, but also a man whose communication with the outside world was carried out through telegrams. In the harsh Arctic, where there is no mobile communication and Internet, telegrams were the only way to communicate with the "mainland." Today, his telegrams are an important historical document. They provide unique information about the course of the expeditions, about the character of Ernst Krenkel as a leader and about the life of the polar explorers at that time.

Currently, the exhibit is taking part in the exhibition "Saving the Arctic: Stories of Great Voyages" aboard the world's largest nuclear icebreaker "50 Years of Victory" as part of an expedition to the North Pole.
