Sharper is a 1998 American drama film about the underground world of high—stakes poker, directed by John Dahl. After the poker boom in the early 2000s, the film became a cult hit.

The idea for the film came from the screenwriter Brian Koppelman during a visit to one of the underground gambling houses in New York. He lost $750, and then came up with an idea for a future scenario.

In one episode of the film, Matt Damon's character Mike takes money out of a poker book called Supersystems, written by legendary poker player Doyle Brunson, and recites several quotes from this book. Notably, Damon played poker with Brunson at the 1998 World Poker Championship in Las Vegas.
