An autographed guitar by Iron Maiden band member Steve Harris

Steve Harris is a British rock musician, bassist, founder and leader of the band Iron Maiden. As the author of the vast majority of the band's songs, he created a unique recognizable style combining powerful bass lines with epic metal compositions. Harris developed his signature technique of playing "gallop" (rapid alternation of notes), which became the hallmark of Iron Maiden and influenced an entire generation of metal musicians.

Harris created most of the iconic Iron Maiden compositions on his beloved 1974 Fender Precision bass guitar, affectionately called "The Number One." This distinctive-sounding instrument can be heard on all the band's classic albums. Interestingly, despite being able to use any modern instrument, Harris still prefers to play this time-tested guitar during studio recordings and concerts.
