Jack Nicholson is an American actor, film director, screenwriter and producer.
Nicholson is considered one of the greatest actors in the history of cinema. He has been nominated for an Oscar a record 12 times, winning three times.

In 1971, Jack Nicholson starred in the comedy-drama film directed by Mike Nichols "The Knowledge of the Flesh" starring Art Garfunkel and Ann-Margret. He was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. Nichols felt that few actors could have handled the role, saying, "There's James Cagney, Spencer Tracy, Humphrey Bogart and Henry Fonda. And after these names, who else can go but Jack Nicholson?" During the filming, Nicholson struck up an acquaintance with Garfunkel, which developed into a lifelong friendship. When Garfunkel came to Los Angeles, he stayed at Nicholson's house in a room that Nicholson jokingly called the "Arthur Garfunkel Suite."
