An autographed document

Simon Wiesenthal is an Austrian Jewish architect who survived the Holocaust and became a famous Nazi hunter. After the war, Wiesenthal devoted his life to finding and bringing to justice Nazi war criminals. He founded the documentation Center (archive) in Vienna, the purpose of which was to search for the Nazis who escaped punishment after the end of the 2nd World War.

One of Wiesenthal's most famous achievements was his participation in the discovery and capture of Adolf Eichmann in Argentina in 1960. Eichmann was convicted in Israel and executed in 1962. Wiesenthal has collected a huge archive of documents, testimonies and materials related to Nazi crimes. This archive has become an important resource for historians and investigators.

In 1977, the Simon Wiesenthal Center was founded in Los Angeles, dedicated to studying the Holocaust, combating anti-Semitism and all forms of discrimination. Wiesenthal has received numerous awards and recognitions for his work, including the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Gold Medal of the U.S. Congress.
