Promise Me, Dad is a memoir book published in 2017 by Joe Biden, who served as vice president at that time. The book was written by the politician in memory of his eldest son Bo, who died in 2015 from a brain tumor at the age of 46. The title of the book was inspired by Biden's conversation with his son after the cancer began to progress significantly. Resigned to his imminent death, Bo assured his father that no matter what happened, he would be fine. He then asked his father to promise the same in return.
When he first met his future mother-in-law, the mother of his first wife Neilia Hunter, when asked what he wanted to do for a living, Biden proudly announced that he intended to become president of the United States.
