Primakov received his higher education at the Moscow Institute of Oriental Studies in the Arabic department. He learned Arabic, after which he went to work at the USSR State Television. There, in six years, he went from a simple correspondent to the editor-in-chief of Arabic broadcasting. However, the further career of the young specialist came into question due to Primakov's conflict with the curators from the Propaganda and Agitation Department of the Central Committee of the CPSU. Nevertheless, the young journalist was lucky. His friend Valentin Zorin introduced him to the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Pravda, Nikolai Inozemtsev. So Primakov got a job in the main printing organ of the Central Committee of the CPSU.
