Gene Simmons is an American rock musician, bass guitarist, vocalist, actor and entrepreneur. One of the founders of the band Kiss, performing under the stage name The Demon.

The history of Kiss dates back to the mid-70s. Its participants, Gene Simmons and Harvey Eisen, later known as Paul Stanley, decided to create a new, unlike anything else project. The key point, at Simmons' insistence, was the appearance. Using theatrical makeup, each of them tried to express themselves to the fullest, resulting in four different colorful images inspired by comics and horror films.
At the same time, the use of makeup was not so unique among the artists. Alice Cooper and Arthur Brown also wore makeup during their shows. However, it was only for Kiss that fancy coloring became a kind of real brand.
