Moby is an American performer, composer, producer, and DJ.
In an interview, the musician talked about his pseudonym: "I got this nickname when I was ten years old. My real name is Richard Melville Hall. Herman Melville, who wrote Moby Dick, is a relative of mine. At birth, my parents jokingly named me Moby. They hardly expected the nickname to stay for a long time."
Moby is the author of many famous soundtracks for TV series, movies and commercials. So, his music was played in the TV series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Charmed", "The X—Files", "Secrets of Smallville", "The Sopranos" and many others, as well as in many films, for example, in the films "Scream", "Requiem for a Dream", "The Bourne Identity", "Vanilla Sky", "The Devil Wears Prada", "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider", "Three X's" and others.
Moby's most famous album Play went platinum in 26 countries and was nominated for a Grammy Award three years in a row, but never took it. Despite this, critics recognized Play as the best album of 1999.
