The first song performed by Bjork was played on one of the Irish radio stations when she was 11 years old — the recording was sent by Bjork's teacher. In 1977, she and her stepfather recorded their debut album of songs with acoustic guitar. As a teenager, she was a member of the punk band Spit and Snot and the fusion band Exodus. Her first band, which major labels showed interest in, was the Sugarcubes project. After his breakup, she took up solo work.
