Vladimir Bekhterev is a Russian physician, physiologist, psychiatrist, neurologist, founder of reflexology and researcher of the brain. Throughout his life, the scientist made about 30 scientific discoveries related to the structure of the brain, opened the world's first neurosurgical department at Kazan University and the world's first neuroscientific training center in St. Petersburg. Thanks to him, the scientific journal Neurological Bulletin was founded, which is still published today, and more than 50 medical institutions. An outstanding German scientist, Friedrich Kopsch, once said: "Only two people know the secret of the brain: God and Bekhterev."

According to one version, it was he who diagnosed Joseph Stalin with a severe mental disorder, after which he died soon after under mysterious circumstances. This gave rise to rumors that he could be eliminated on the orders of the Soviet leader, who was afraid of the publicity of the diagnosis.
