Jean Tierney is an American actress. Tierney was considered one of the most beautiful Hollywood actresses, became most famous for her roles in the films "Laura" (1944) and "God is her Judge" (1945), for which she was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress.
Jean Tierney is known not only for her acting career and dazzling beauty, but also because of the tragic life incident that later formed the basis of Agatha Christie's novel "And, cracked, the Mirror Rings...", based on which director Guy Hamilton made the film "The Mirror Cracked".
The fact is that during the First World War, Jean joined the "Defense Forces of America" and had to appear at various events where military women would participate, talk with them, and sign autographs.
After one of these events, Jean fell ill with rubella, being five months pregnant.
Jean didn't know who was responsible for her misfortune. However, after a while, at one of the evenings, a woman in the uniform of a naval officer approached her and said:
"And we already met about two years ago. However, then we had a rubella epidemic in our unit. But when I found out that Gene Tierney was going to be at the event, I escaped from quarantine to hug you and shake your hand. I hope you didn't get rubella then?"
