Christian Dior is a French fashion designer, founder of the Dior fashion house, who had a significant impact on world fashion in the second half of the 20th century. His collections, especially those presented in 1947, created a real sensation and became a symbol of post-war elegance. Dior was one of the first to invent the "New Look", which recreated femininity and refined silhouette after the Second World War. These are fitted silhouettes, pleated skirts, nylon stockings, stilettos and flirty hats. Elegance is synonymous with Christian Dior's work.
The sketches presented in the Stargift collection relate to the very "new style" in fashion of the second half of the 20th century, which in the future will become eternal classics. These works, created approximately in the period from 1943 to 1955, reflect the early stages of Dior's work, when he was just beginning to form his unique style, which later changed the fashion world.
Interestingly, Christian Dior was not only a fashion designer, but also a talented artist. His early sketches, created in the 1940s, demonstrate a deep understanding of proportions and shapes, which were later embodied in his famous collections. These works became the basis for a revolution in the fashion world that made Dior one of the most influential figures of the 20th century.
