Dmitry Alexandrovich Hvorostovsky is a Soviet and Russian opera singer (baritone). People's Artist of the Russian Federation (1995).
The opera singer was posthumously nominated for the 60th Grammy Awards ceremony. Together with him, conductor Konstantin Orbelian was among the nominees for the "Best Classical vocal Solo Album" for the disc "Sviridov: Departed Russia", recorded to the poems of Sergei Yesenin.
During his lifetime, he was nominated for a Grammy three times — in 1992, 1994 and 2008. After his death, a recording of Georgy Sviridov's poem "Departed Russia" performed by him was among the contenders for this award for 2017 in the nomination "Best Classical Solo Vocal Album" (the award ceremony took place on January 28, 2018 in New York).
