The postcard is a reproduction of Oscar Kokoschka's painting "Portrait of actress Villa Durieux", which he painted in 1910. Five years later, the painting was purchased by the famous German art dealer and collector Alfred Flechtheim.

This Austrian actress, writer and memoirist was very popular and was a muse for many artists. In addition to Oscar, she was depicted on canvases by Auguste Renoir, Max Slefogt, Franz von Stuck, Ernst Barach, Emil Roller, Julia Wolfthorn and others.
