Established by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1966 in honor of the adoption of the State Electrification Plan of Russia (GOELRO), which became the starting point for the development of the country's energy industry, it symbolizes the recognition of the work of people who provide us with light, heat and energy. On December 22, we thank the power engineers for their contribution to the comfort and development of society, for their work that makes our world brighter and warmer.
Power engineers are the modern incarnation of Prometheus. Their work requires not only high skill and accurate calculations, but also amazing endurance, because every day they resist the elements, control the flow of energy, make sure that the lamps are lit and the boilers are heated.
