The author's bronze sculpture "Ermak"
Ermak - Ermolai Timofeevich, according to some sources Vasily Timofeevich Alenin, was born in Vologda land in the 1530s — 40s. The conqueror of Siberia, one of the most mysterious personalities in history, and at the same time one of the most beloved by the people. He became a symbol of courage, leadership talent and willpower.
The figure of a brave warrior was created by sculptor V.E. Maslov in 2007 as a sketch of the monument. The pedestal is made in the form of rooks, on which Ermak's detachment arrived in Western Siberia in 1582 to fight Khan Kuchum. A rider on a rampant horse stands on a cliff above the vast expanses, the direction of the wind, blowing the curls of a warrior and the mane of a horse, attracts Ermak to conquer Siberia. The horseman's outstretched hand holds an axe, a symbol of simple origin. As N.M. Karamzin wrote, "Ermak was a kind of unknown, but a great soul."
