В композиции — почти 3000 тщательно проработанных фигур, каждая из которых обладает индивидуальными чертами и характером. Сцены празднества и народных развлечений придают работе динамику и насыщенность. Благоприятный дракон с высоко поднятой головой, исполненный внутреннего достоинства, символизирует смелость движения вперёд и предвещает удачное, благополучное плавание.

Более двухсот открывающихся окон и свыше ста колокольчиков, приходящих в движение от лёгкого ветра, усиливают эффект живого архитектурного ансамбля. Масштаб замысла и виртуозность исполнения производят сильное впечатление, заставляя вновь и вновь возвращаться к созерцанию этого произведения.
