Initially, the factory produced pharmacy vials. Later, Gustaf Holmquist, the manager of the Kosta Glasbruk company, organized the production of window panes at the factory. In 1896, the glass manufacturing business went bankrupt, and until 1904 the factory building was used to create simple bottles and household utensils.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Until the second half of the twentieth century, the factory underwent many changes: a fire that destroyed a wooden production building, a change of owners, an expansion of the assortment, bankruptcy, and the deep economic depression of 1921-1922... However, in 1981, a decisive turning point occurred in the history of Maleras.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>It was then that Mats Jonasson, a man who had worked at the Maleras factory for many years and knew all the processes from the inside, became the main shareholder and owner of the production. Mats gathered around him the most qualified glaziers and designers, whose joint work brought the factory unprecedented success. The unique highlight of Maleras is the colored reliefs on art glass and crystal, which are still rightfully considered real works of art and are in great demand all over the world. Despite the expansion of staff and production facilities, Mats Jonasson does not strive for mass production.
