The most fascinating board game of French aristocrats is Solitaire. This game is also called "Madagascar checkers", after the French brought it to the island of Madagascar. The first official mention of "solitaire" dates back to the reign of King Louis XIV (the Sun King, 17th century). It is assumed that this game owes its appearance to the forced seclusion of noble persons within the walls of the Bastille.
The rules are very simple:
- Balls are placed on the entire game board, the central hole remains empty.
- Move an amber ball vertically or horizontally into an empty hole, one through the other, removing this one from the field
- Your goal is to leave only one amber ball in the central hole (which is very difficult).
