This original checkers set is handmade from precious woods and is aimed at those who are looking for not just a board game, but a special form of aesthetic and intellectual pleasure. The set includes 24 figures: 12 forest kikimora and 12 goblins, complemented by two bright ladies — Baba Yaga and Koshchei. The confrontation is based on the symbolic duality of the "feminine" and "masculine" principles, embodied in mysterious mythical images. Each figure is carved from an array of black walnut treated with natural oil, giving the surface a matte depth that emphasizes the elegance of the details of the carving.
The figures are mounted on leather bases that prevent slipping and provide a special tactile sensation with every movement. The vertical orientation of the checkers refers to the chess tradition and radically changes the perception of the game, giving it greater expressiveness and visual saturation. Due to its large size and thoughtful shape, each figure is easily distinguishable even in diffused lighting conditions — an important nuance for connoisseurs of chamber evenings and thoughtful details.
The playing field is handmade from black oak with alternating maple and American walnut veneer inserts forming a harmonious rhythm of 57-millimeter cages. The surface is framed with indexing, adding a touch of classics. Inside the board there is a soft base upholstered in blue velvet, carefully fixing each figure. The visual austerity of dark wood in contrast with rich velvet forms the image of a worthy gift — intellectual, ironic, a little daring.
