Chess "Malevich's Suprematism"
He is an extremely multifaceted master who worked in completely different manners. He was an impressionist, was fond of the Russian primitive, and became close to cubofuturists. But his most famous works relate to the artistic direction he created - suprematism (from the Latin supremus - the highest). These compositions are a combination of geometric shapes of different colors and sizes, filled with inner movement that balances their asymmetry.
The simple suprematist shapes created by Malevich's genius are perfect for creating a chess set. The artist's favorite colors were black, white and red, which determined the color scheme of the set.
The board is a combination of three squares: white, black and red. The black color of the geometric figure was a symbol of economy, red was a signal of revolution, and white represented pure action. The artist considered the square to be a kind of reference point or "zero forms." Everyone knows his most famous work. According to Malevich, the "Black Square" means the victory of the creative human principle over the passive forces of nature. This symbol was first used in 1913 when creating the scenery for the opera "Victory over the Sun" by Mikhail Matyushin - instead of a solar circle, a black square. " "At the same time, it was considered zero in terms of color - black "not a color" on white meant "the desert of existence." At the same time, the artist was characterized by humor and the inscription on the painting was made by his hand: "The battle of the Negroes in a dark cave." ""Red Square" " "has the additional name "Picturesque realism of a peasant woman in two dimensions", and "White Square" is also known as "White on white".
Malevich identified two more main elements of the suprematist system - the cross and the circle. Together with the square, the paintings with that name were supposed to form a single triptych. In our set, the black and red circles have turned into pawns. Crosses became kings. According to the artist, the square transforms into a cross-shaped plane and, thus, a new form of complicated construction is born from scratch.
It is noteworthy that Malevich's body, according to his will, was to be placed in a supremacist coffin in the shape of a cross. The figures of rooks, knights, and officers are rectangular, teardrop-shaped, and triangular elements most commonly found in the artist's paintings. Queens are the strongest of the pieces, they are constructions of suprematist forms based on the same circle and square. Our chess set is another tribute to the memory of the Russian genius who created his own universe. With such chess, you will touch the immortal creations of the master and be able to rethink the familiar world, look at it as if from the inside, which the legendary artist did at one time.
The set is accompanied by a quality certificate with a hologram and an authentic autograph of the sixteen-time world chess champion Anatoly Karpov.
