About this product
The exclusive amber chess set "Romans and Gauls" is a high-status art object in which intellectual play is combined with the art of amber carving and jewelry precision. It is an expressive decoration of an office, library or meeting room, emphasizing the taste and position of the owner.
The composition is based on the confrontation of two armies. The Romans symbolize order, discipline and strategic calculation, while the Gauls symbolize independence, courage and strength of character. Such a plot is especially organically revealed in chess, a game that embodies foresight, endurance and the ability to make decisions.
Each figure is hand-carved from Baltic amber by an experienced master carver. Detailed faces, clothes, armor, shields and weapons transform chess pieces into independent miniature sculptures. The light side is made in honey-golden shades, the opposite is in rich cognac and reddish colors. The armor, weapons and decorative elements are cast from metal and complemented with gilding. The noble luster of the metal highlights the depth and natural texture of amber, giving the composition a special solemnity. The massive board is made on a wooden base and lined with amber plates. Ornamental inserts, mosaic patterns, decorative medallions and relief details are made in the aesthetics of the Amber Room. An interior space with a velvet finish is provided for careful storage of the figures.
The limited edition and high proportion of manual labor give the chess a collectible value. This is a significant gift for a leader, statesman, diplomat, collector, history connoisseur, or a person for whom strategy is part of their profession and lifestyle. Such an item is appropriate in honor of an anniversary, appointment to a high position, a major business victory or an important corporate event.
