The ship Royal William, it was launched in Portsmouth, England, in 1719. The life and history of the Royal William ship is very full of various events. Thus, the ship was part of the squadron of Vice Admiral Sir Charles Saunders near Quebec in 1759 and took part in the operation on Gibraltar in 1782. After the successful assault on the heights of Abraham, the embalmed body of General Wolfe was sent to England aboard the Royal William, where, according to Sir Saunders, the general was to be buried with all appropriate honors.
At the end of her life, the ship stood as a stationary guard at dead anchor in Portsmouth Bay and was dismantled in 1813. Ninety-four years of fairly active service is a great achievement, forever recorded in history under the name Royal William.
The total length of the ship was 310 feet (approximately 100 meters). The ship was armed with 104 guns and was manned by a crew of 730 people.
