About this product
Art. : 011-182

The complete works, in a leather cover, of one of the most brilliant and mysterious American writers - Edgar Allan Poe. The historical French binding style and bright color embossing were chosen, such a non-trivial approach to this edition, as well as the very work of the unique Edgar Poe! Handmade, the collection is printed on designer paper.

The first volume of Poe's works includes his poetry. The book is based on translations of the famous poets of the "Silver Age" - Konstantin Balmont and Valery Bryusov. The peculiarity of this edition is that Russian translations of Poe's lyrics, created over more than a hundred years, are collected here in the fullest possible volume. As a result, the reader will have the opportunity to form an idea of "The Raven" and other masterpieces of the great American romantic as close to the original as possible, as well as to trace the various stages of mastering his poetic work in Russia.

The second volume includes his early short stories such as "Morella", "The Fall of the House of Usher", "Ligeia", "Shadow", etc. Masterfully using a fantastic plot and psychological tension in his stories, the writer "reconciles" two eternally opposite ideas: the frailty of man and his desire for life, and with this purely artistic resolution of the conflict, as it were, removes the feeling of horror of what is happening.

The third volume consisted of works representing a cycle of "Short Stories" (1845), such as "The Mystery of Marie Roger", "The Stolen Letter", and related to the last period of the writer's work. The collection ends with romantic prose - "The Tale of the Adventures of Arthur Gordon Pym", a fantastic story of travels to the South Seas.

The fourth volume is represented by a series of works designated in the writer's work as "Stories that were not included in lifetime collections."

Leather-bound gift books "Maupassant. Collection" in 13 volumes, in cases Leather-bound gift books "Maupassant. Collection" in 13 volumes, in cases Maupassant's work is mysterious. The initial, personal motives of this Phenomenon in the world literature are largely unclear. Why did a man who was already marked by a fatal hereditary disease in his youth practically not write about death, did not even think about the "eternal"? On the contrary, the too transitory, too human feeling of love for a woman became the main theme of his work. And why did a writer who loved life so much, glorified its sensual beauty like no other-the beauty of Venus babbling in French-seriously try to commit suicide while at the height of fame and fortune? There is no definitive answer to these questions. It is only possible for the reader to eternally approach the solution of the mystery of Maupassant - upstream of the river of life, in the "moonlight" of his brilliant, poetic prose. The collection includes works by: Dear friend, Crumpet, Mont Oriol, The Tellier Institution, From the left hand, Our Heart, Yvette, Moonlight, Mademoiselle Fifi, Tales of Day and Night, Under the Sun, Miss Harriet, Pierre and Jean.
