The book is illustrated with 132 drawings by artists Igor Emmanuelovich Grabar (Khrabrov) (1871-1960), Nikolai Andreevich Zubchaninov (1866-1908), Dmitry Nikolaevich Kardovsky (1866-1943), Alexei Ilyich Kravchenko (1889-1940), Ralph Fedorovich Stein (1854-1896) and 28 engravings from actor Vasily Nikolaevich Andreev-Burlak (1843-1888).
