The famous ancient Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu went down in history as the founder of the teachings of Taoism and the author of the treatise “The Book of the Way” (Tao te Ching).
Created more than two thousand years ago, this outstanding monument of Chinese wisdom is still of great importance to the whole world.
To date, it is second only to the Bible in terms of the number of translations into foreign languages.
In our edition, the treatise is presented in two translations: by the Japanese scientist D. P. Konissi, made with the help of L. N. Tolstoy in 1894, and the wonderful poet of the Silver Age Konstantin Balmont.
In addition, the collection includes popular studies by Konissi and other authors on the personality and philosophy of Lao Tzu, aphorisms of Chinese sages, as well as sayings of Lao Tzu, translated into Russian by L. N. Tolstoy.
For many centuries, the Book of the Way has been teaching people simple truths: to live in modesty, in harmony with the world, without harming anyone and avoiding temptations that are harmful to the fragile human soul.
