Confucius (551-479 BC) was an ancient Chinese thinker, historian, philosopher and statesman. His teachings had a profound impact on the life of China and the whole world, becoming the basis of a philosophical system that later became known as "Confucianism". During his lifetime, the teachings of Confucius were not recognized by either the rulers or their subjects. It was only thanks to the efforts of the philosopher's students that his priceless thoughts and judgments were preserved.
The teachings of Confucius were sometimes praised, then banned, opponents destroyed books with his statements and tried in every possible way to defame his name, but the followers of the philosopher considered him a sage and a great teacher of the people.
