A funny and mysterious description of the magical Lukomorye has been living in each of us since childhood, it opens the door to the poetic world of fairy tales, or rather, to the fabulous world of poetry. The light, ironic magic poem "Ruslan and Lyudmila" takes us back to the legendary past – during the time of Prince Vladimir of Kiev, the Red Sun; the main character, the fearless Prince Ruslan, pursues the evil and treacherous Karla Chernomor, who kidnapped the prince's beautiful young wife Lyudmila from the marriage bed. Published in 1820, the poem brought Pushkin instant fame: a cheerful mix of a variety of traditions, genres and styles, inimitable lightness and at the same time the richness of the language conquer readers today.
Full of wonders, treasures, vivid images, the poem is a "magic casket" that you want to pick up in order to feel its uniqueness, explore the details, each time finding something new. This is exactly the kind of casket we tried to create in our new edition – a miniature book by A.S. Pushkin "Ruslan and Lyudmila". Opening the burgundy with gold embossed volume, you will plunge into a long-familiar world, seeing in it, however, a lot of new things that you had not noticed before. There are no random and ill-conceived details in our edition: the main background, bright and at the same time sustained in the general tone of the illustration, slightly ornate, but easily readable font create a harmonious whole. Having picked up this book and flipped through it, you will want not only to study it as a work of printing and bookbinding art, but also to read a familiar poem again to find out more precisely where the kingdom of Chernomor was located and what kind of dragon is depicted in one of the illustrations.
The illustrations by the artist A. Pasko are made specifically for this publication. When reading Pushkin's text accurately, bright, colorful images seem to come off the pages, and for a fraction of a second even the most pragmatic reader finds himself next to the heroes of the poem.
The circulation of this edition is only 500 copies, and each of them is hand-bound, so whichever version you choose, you will become the owner of a unique book.
