Russian Russian naval commander's documents are successfully complemented by a story about the vicissitudes of his dangerous life and help to understand why this stern warrior was ranked - second after Alexander Nevsky - among the saints of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Hundreds of color and black-and-white antique illustrations recreate the panorama of events that took place more than 200 years ago. The book is intended for everyone who is interested in military history, naval battles, the chronicle of the victories of the Russian navy and the biographies of great personalities of the past.
