The Russian Emperor Alexander I is known to all enlightened mankind as the victor of Napoleon Bonaparte and the liberator of Europe. His best and detailed artistic biography was created by the historiographer and writer N. K. Schilder at the end of the XIX century. The brilliant Alexander era was marked by the great victories of Russian weapons in the war against the usurper of Europe, Napoleon, the advanced reforms of Speransky and the subsequent intensification of the reaction, which led to the December armed uprising of 1825. The hesitations and doubts inherent in the character of Emperor Alexander I did not allow him to take full advantage of the fruits of grandiose conquests and progressive domestic policy. Alexander's restless soul and his religious pursuits, his courage and unshakable will, kindness and extraordinary charm - from the pen of Schilder came an interesting image of a great personality who determined the fate of Russia and Europe in the first quarter of the XIX century.
The book presents an abridged version of the work of N. K. Schilder, covering the reign of Emperor Alexander Pavlovich from 1801 to 1825.
