Viskovatov (1804-1858). The richly illustrated edition contained a detailed description of military uniforms and weapons for the period from the end of the 9th to the middle of the 19th century. The unique illustrative series (including hand-painted engravings) and the tiny print run immediately made Viskovatov's work a welcome gift for collectors and historians. Viskovatov's book is still one of the most sought-after sources of information about the history of military uniforms.

The book "Russian weapons and military uniforms. 1000 years of History" is a modern reprint of the classic work "Historical description of the clothes and weapons of the Russian troops, with drawings, compiled by the highest command," which was published in the capital of the Russian Empire, St. Petersburg, in 1841-1862. For this work, Alexander Vasilyevich Viskovatov received the personal gratitude of Emperor Nicholas I, and the Imperial Academy of Sciences awarded this work the prestigious Demidov Prize.
