About this product
French artist Edouard Manet went through a difficult path in art. He sought to show in his works the vivid aspects of modern life, "not to repeat tomorrow what was done today, to make a new note sound." His creative fate was not simple: his work was not always approved by "art figures." However, the artist did not change himself: he went his own way and opposed the doctrines of academicism, which, in his opinion, limited the creative imagination of the masters of painting. "He was bigger than we thought," the impressionist Degas would once say of him.
