Lieutenant General, head of the Imperial Hunting Department Nikolai Kutepov began working on the history of Russian hunting in 1891 at the request of Emperor Alexander III. The first volume was released only five years later. In total, it took more than 20 years to complete the work of the historian and outstanding Russian artists of that time. Among them are Vasnetsov, Ryabushkin, Repin, Lancere, Serov and many others. The four volumes of the "Grand Ducal, Royal and Imperial Hunting in Russia" are a unique example of book art, which has been highly appreciated at Russian and international exhibitions of printing.
