The author of this work is Manus Pargamin, a doctor and writer who is a full member of the St. Petersburg and Kiev Obstetric and Gynecological Societies. The book is devoted to the study of the psychological nature of animal instincts. In the preface and comments to the text, the author analyzes the presence of intelligence and consciousness in animals, arguing that they have developed a high mental organization, which people have long considered their exclusive right. Each chapter provides examples of the behavior of various animals, on the basis of which general conclusions are formulated. The author hopes that his work will awaken in readers mercy and compassion for animals. He believes that loving animals inevitably leads to compassion and love for people, which is the foundation of our lives.
