The book, written on the eve of the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War, tells about the design and construction of the 2nd line of the Moscow Metro. Its tasks were to connect 3 railway stations — Kievsky, Kursky and Belorussky — and also to serve the airport terminal, the Dynamo stadium and one of the most important highways of the capital — the Leningradskoe Highway. Work on the creation of architectural designs for stations and lobbies of the 2nd stage of the metro began in the spring of 1935, taking into account the experience of designing and building the 1st stage and was completed in 1939.

The word "metropolitan" was first pronounced in Moscow in 1901. And the word "metro" was originally masculine. Therefore, the slogans on Soviet posters sounded like this: "Our metro is the best in the world!".
