Freemasonry, with its ancient rituals, carefully guarded secrets, complex symbols and unusual insignia, has attracted increased interest over the centuries, while often becoming the target of attacks. In this book you will find a lot of interesting information about the Masonic organization: its origin and history, the philosophy underlying Masonic rituals, the interaction of Freemasons with society as a whole (including the role of women in Freemasonry and anti-Masonic movements), the mysteries and riddles associated with the Order of Freemasons, and finally, about celebrities from different eras who were members of the Masonic Brotherhood. The illustrative series includes photographs that have never been published before; it introduces the reader to the objects of the material culture of the Masons.
