The Holy Prince Oleg Romanovich Bryansky (baptised Leontius) was the grandson of the holy martyr Prince Mikhail of Chernigov. According to chronicle sources, it is known that the blessed Prince Oleg in 1274, together with his father, Prince Roman Mikhailovich Bryansky, participated in the war against Lithuania. After 1274, he left the reign and took monastic vows with the name Vasily in the Bryansk Peter and Paul Monastery, built at his expense. In this monastery, the holy prince died as a strict ascetic around 1285 and was buried in the monastery church.
