Peter the Great is a Russian tsar, who received the nickname the Great from his descendants. He founded the Russian Empire. An outstanding reformer. He laid down St. Petersburg, cutting through the “Window to Europe". I have introduced a new calendar in Russia. He created a regular army and a navy. In January 1724 Peter the Great signed a decree on the foundation of the Academy of Sciences. He created the first Russian museum, library, secular schools, theater and newspaper. Peter established a new system of state institutions, which was preserved with some changes until the beginning of the XIX century. In the Peter the Great era, there was a significant leap in the development of the manufacturing industry. Russia's dependence on imports has significantly decreased, while exports have grown. He actively explored Siberia and the Urals. Peter the Great, for all his inconsistency, went down in history as an emperor who managed to radically change the face of Russia and the course of history for many centuries.
