Requiem: A table clock with an 8-day movement, developed in collaboration with Kostas Metaxas. This limited edition draws inspiration from the shape of a human skull and displays time in the eye sockets.
Floating skulls, frightened people facing their fears, supernatural and secret people... — countless examples of skulls expressed in the 7th Art.
Skulls have been widely featured in the myths of many cultures. In tribal and primitive arts, they were often associated with strength and protection. Also in many other arts, such as painting, they continue to evoke admiration, anxiety, attraction and emotion.
Requiem takes these concepts to a new level by interpreting them into a single work of art, with the motto: "If you want to know the time, you have to face your fears," which makes you feel alive.
The skull represents the passage of time for artists. The symbolism of the eye is artistically considered as a representation of flying time, and the numbers are wisely arranged on two discs appearing in the eye cavities, thus replacing the eyes or at least making them viewers of passing time.
"A watch is a fascinating object because you can play with what you hide and with what you reveal."
Kostas Metaxas is a magazine editor, film producer, art and technology enthusiast. He feeds from different sources, and his varied and varied activities complement each other, enriching his creativity. His creative path is non-standard: from art to design, but for him it was an obvious step. He approaches this new concept with the wise eye of a multicultural artist. His creations are unique, and he has been repeatedly awarded for his design talents.
Requiem has retained its eerily sober and elegant aestheticism and the same technical qualities, among other things: a power reserve of 8 days, rearmament of the base of the skull and clock indication using a "slow" jumping disc and running minutes.
Several side openings were specially conceived and designed as pirate scars to allow only a few reflections of light to be filtered, adorning the mechanical mechanism and its hourly orbiting vision.
The protective casing formed by the skull around the mechanism allows only a few reflections of light through the holes: two crossed swords, the brand symbol, placed on the temples, such as holes in another time space, suggest rhythmic vibrations of the clockwork. descent.
L'Épée 1839, the first part of the new Skull art collection, deliberately wanted this symbolic table clock to remain restrained, modern and elegant.
The company L'Epée 1839, specializing in the production of luxury watches, understands the intricacies of watchmaking, offers a diverse collection of modern table clocks. Since watchmaking is not the simplest art, L'Epée had to overcome many obstacles on the way to creating the best, successfully combining simple design with technically complex execution.
The watch is available in a limited edition of 50 pieces of each color.
