Kolchuginsky Melchior

Luxury tableware – this is what the Kolchuginsky Melchior company has been doing for more than 120 years. We have been selling consumer goods since 1896, continuing the traditions of the workshop of the legendary Kolchuginsky non-ferrous metals plant. The company has been selling consumer goods for so many years and is making them more and more accessible to the public.
In 1871, Alexander Kolchugin used a loan received from the Vogau and Co. trading house to build factories with steam engines and modern equipment near Vasilyevskoye village.
At the end of the 19th century, the production of tableware was organized on the basis of the merchant Kolchugin copper smelter.
In 1918, the plant was nationalized and became known as the First state-owned Copper Processing Plant. Since 1922, the plant began producing samovars and primuses, and soon after the Great Patriotic War, they launched the production of nickel-plated kettles and mastered the technology of coating precious metals.
Since 1948, the construction and phased commissioning of individual technological lines and sections began: nickel-plated kettles, silver-plated cutlery and silverware. In the 60s, the construction and installation of the chrome plating department for consumer goods was completed.
In 1978, in order to accelerate the growth of consumer goods production and meet the purchasing power, a new building of the tableware workshop was commissioned. Its design capacity is more than 2 thousand tons of tableware and cutlery.
In 1997, the workshop for the production of consumer goods was separated into an independent division, the factory of elite cutlery and tableware of CJSC TD Kolchug-Mizar.
In 2008, the tableware production was re-incorporated into the Sergo Ordzhonikizdze Factory (Kolchugtsvetmet CJSC) as a consumer goods workshop, thereby returning to the state of 1997.
Currently, the plant manufactures tableware and cutlery made of nickel silver (nickel silver), stainless steel, which are coated with nickel, chrome, silver, and gold. The production of cutlery and tableware made of 925 sterling silver has also been mastered.
