About this product
Art. : 334-49

Comitti of London is a family-owned company that has been creating beautiful interior clocks and barometers since 1850.

The founder of the company, the Italian mechanic Onorato Comitti, came to England in 1845. Here he engaged in the production of barometers, and soon his products became very popular in the homes of wealthy Englishmen. In the late Victorian period, the company concentrated on the production of a variety of watches.

At the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, the production of English interior clocks reached perfection. It was then that a clear connection began to be traced between classical architecture, which was loved by furniture craftsmen, and the production of watches that repeated the design of fashionable furniture cabinets at that time. Skilled carvers and jewelers created cabinet clocks from the same precious woods and with the same decor as furniture.

Many design solutions of those distant years continue their life in the current Comitti watches. They have long been classics of English watchmaking. Comitti remains a family business today. The company is currently run by the grandchildren of George Barker, who married Louise Comitti and joined the family business in the 1890s.
Against the background of other companies, Comitti is distinguished by the excellent execution of watch cases. For their manufacture, cabinetmakers use a carefully selected array of precious woods, decorate it with hand-carved wood, inlay and marquetry (an ancient technique of decorative decoration). Each copy is polished by hand to emphasize the beauty of the natural texture or to give the effect of "old wood". The dials are also assembled and painted only by hand, so each dial is unique.

All watches have high-quality mechanisms, characterized by both excellent stroke accuracy and an abundance of numerous patented inventions.
Automatic adjustment of the uniformity of the stroke and automatic tuning of the melody make it possible to do without the involvement of a specialist watchmaker to install the watch.
There are always several limited edition models in the Comitti range. Traditional watches with their soothing, almost therapeutic "tick-tock" sound are the perfect backdrop to create a comfortable, cozy atmosphere. Perhaps this is the reason that many owners have an attachment to watches not as an instrument, but as a work of art. Any watch produced by the Comitti of London factory will become an heirloom immediately after purchase, which will definitely be passed down from generation to generation!
