Yevgeny Yevtushenko is a Soviet and Russian poet, a nominee for the Nobel Prize in Literature. His work caused controversy and discussion in society, as he openly expressed thoughts about politics and social issues. He was also an active participant in cultural life, spent a lot of time abroad and was known for his flamboyant public appearances.
Stanzas of the Century is an anthology of Russian poetry of the 20th century, published in 1995 by the Minsk—Moscow publishing house Polifakt in the series "Results of the Century. A view from Russia." Yevgeny Yevtushenko, the author of the book, included poems by 875 authors. The scientific editor of the publication was Evgeny Vitkovsky. Yevtushenko was awarded the Tsarskoye Selo Prize for his work on the anthology.
