Flags of different states. B.G., B.M. 51 L. engraved and hand-painted flags. Solid leather binding, marble paper on the flyleaf. The loss of L. 23 and a fragment of L. 44. Excellent condition, restoration and duplication of the spine.
A copy with an inscription on a free sheet before the title: To His Excellency Dmitry Nikolaevich Sinyavin. The sequence and nature of the flags, the peculiarity of the paper and the nature of the appeal to Senyavin as a rear admiral allow us to determine the time of the book's creation in 1816-1822. In all major libraries, this edition is missing, an absolutely unique book. Probably, several pieces were printed as a souvenir to admirals and rear admirals of the Russian navy, a single print personally to Senyavin is possible, but unlikely, however, there is no exact data on this publication.
Dmitry Nikolaevich Senyavin (1763-1831) — the great naval commander, admiral, who committed the blockade of the Dardanelles in 1807, which became the fundamental reason for the termination of the Russian-Turkish conflict, the first representative of the fleet to receive the rank of adjutant general, after 1825 commander of the Baltic Fleet.
Nowadays, the established spelling of the admiral's surname is Senyavin. However, in the XVIII and XIX centuries, variability was allowed in the spelling of vowels in surnames, which we can observe with the use of a variety of surnames. For example, representatives of this noble family became especially famous in the Navy: Rear Admiral Nikolai Ivanovich Sinyavin, Admiral Ivan Akimovich Senyavin, Vice Admiral Naum Akimovich Sinyavin and Admiral Dmitry Nikolaevich Senyavin were relatives, but their surnames were written differently.
